Faith forged in fire
Faith isn't built in calm waters, only in fire. The silversmith leans over the fire and the billowing smoke. The silver spoon he is working on reflects from the fire little shapes of light across the room. The silversmith edges the spoon deeper into the fire, the flames licking up the sides of the spoon. Suddenly the spoon yells in frustruation- "Ouch! Why is it so hot? How can you be so cruel to put me in the hottest part of this fire? Do you even care that it's hurting me?"

Place a piece of God into each box in your life
When I was younger, I always felt that in life I had various boxes that made up my week. I had my church box for Sunday, School box, work box, Physical health box, dating box, and the list goes on and on. There are so many different parts of our lives that are begging for our attention and the balancing act of placing sufficient attention to each box is not an easy thing. Are you filling your soul with filth?
Just a few weeks ago I asked God, "What should I do to clean up my soul?" The answer was to clean up the music I listen to. The music I exercise to isn't "bad," but God made it clear that a "hell" and "damn" here and there was offensive to the Him as well as songs that speak about promiscuity and drugs. Though some of them had such a good beat and were great to work out to, I deleted them from my playlist. I felt God was asking me "Lovest thou me more than these?" Without re

The Lost Art of Disagreeing without fighting
I've had my share of unkind words thrown my way over the past few years, as our country has become increasingly heated with politics and debate. I've also had discussions with people that know how to respectfully disagree. Verbal fights online, political contention, and hatred for "the other side" of the aisle has become all too common. It pains me to see how much unkindness is possible, especially hiding behind a screen. Words are said over virtual platforms that the same pe
