Touching a soft rose petal, smelling fresh cut grass, tasting hot apple pie, hearing a baby's giggle, seeing a colorful sunset...our lives are filled with these simple moments of happiness. Moments that are little gifts from God to relish in and enjoy. But most of us are running way too fast and are way too busy to notice them. Only if we are willing to slow down and be present in the moment, we will begin to really experiences the simple, beautiful things in life around us. These moments that make life worth living!

It seems to be a badge of honor in our society today if we have a schedule and life packed to the brim with activities and goals. I have fallen prey to this belief many times. But how do we slow down? How can we be present enough to not let these beautiful moments bypass us? We must be intentional. Stop, close our eyes, hone in on your five senses. Be present. Feel the moment.

Something I have done at different times in my life is say a gratitude prayer when I experience one of these simple moments of happiness. Truly God created this earth to help us have a life filled with joy. Even a simple "Thank you Lord" will help you relish even more in an experience and feel God's "you're welcome" in return.

Another thing you can do is put yourself in places where these moments can happen. Go outside. Be in the Lord's creations. Appreciate the earth and this life's experience created for you by a Loving God. My invitation to you is to slow down so that you can actually enjoy these moments and not let your life pass you by.

Challenge: For one day, say gratitude prayers through out the day for the simple and beautiful moments he gives you. You will find more appreciation to God and joy in those experiences!
